subfolder, on my "dogbite.com, called "fleapowder".

Another thing to note is, as far as the search engines are
concerned, "fleapowder.dogbite.com is treated as a separate
website to "dogbite.com"

By using subdomains, you will still get all the benefits
from the search engines as a separate website, but without
all the hassles and cost involved.

this is an easy way to create new websites, which have the
name of the niche ("fleapowder" in this case), at the front
of its web address, in exactly the same way as if you had
buy a separate domain name for the site.

If you have a hundred sites, you can use this method to
save 1000's a year on domain names...

To use subdomains, you have to find a host who supports
them, but many web host provides this feature now, at no
extra cost to you. It is still going to take you time and
effort to create each subdomain, using a technical looking
control panel.

So how do you get around the technicalities? By using a
